Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Fight at "American Idol" Audition (Video)
The Trinidadian raptress' fiery persona, her apparent lack of singing expertise and the presence of a highly successful pop superstar like Mariah Carey on the panel - all were signs that there would be a lot of internal conflicts for control on this season's show.
Unconfirmed reports of friction between the two artists appeared just after the first day of 'Idol' auditioning, and while Carey denied it at that time, some freshly-leaked visual evidence of their verbal skirmishes is set to reopen that chapter once again.
Celebrity news website TMZ has released a video clip showing Minaj and Carey heatedly arguing over something on Tuesday's (October 2) auditions, with the former's voice dominating the latter's, as expected.
The "Super Bass" hitmaker can be heard saying: "Get this s**t in self control. Get in control. Get in control...Don't lose your head. Don't lose your head (inaudible). Don't tell me I'm a gangster...every 5 minutes. So every time you patronize me, I'm-ma take it back, and if you've got a f**king problem, handle it...I told them I'm not f**kin' putting up with her [Carey's] f**king highness over there. Figure it the f**k out. Figure it out. I'm not gonna sit here every f**king minute to have you come down and harass me every minute every day."
Their co-judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban, and unnamed person from the production team do try to intervene and calm things down in the video but Minaj was just too upset to listen to anyone.
The soft-spoken Carey, on the other hand, is sitting on the far end of the table, and so her reactions aren't that audible. Besides, with Minaj on a yelling spree like that, it wouldn't have mattered even if the 42-year-old songstress had a microphone in her hand.
Towards the end of the video clip, it seems that Carey threatens to leave the show and attend to her twin boys, to which Minaj replies: "Good, well then go see them now. Go see them now!"
MouthToEars.com claims that the auditioning was prematurely wrapped up on the day due to the bust-up and now there is a genuine scare among FOX executives regarding the quarrelling stars' long-term coexistence on their hit show.
Soon after TMZ's revelation, MTV News tried to get a comment from Minaj over this issue but so far she hasn't responded.
