Next Beyonce Album Called “Monumental” by Columbia Exec
For as much praise as Beyonce gets for her performing and singing abilities, her career’s been filled with a bunch of hits and more lukewarm aspects. 4 had been a bit ho-hum two years ago, and all singles from its follow-up have been less than stellar.
Yet, Columbia Records’ Rob Stringer, in an interview with HITS Daily Double, recently described her long-in-the-works release (well, long for a pop star) as “monumental” when going through the albums listeners should expect for 2014. He said: “Then we’ve got Pharrell and Solange, and obviously, at some point Beyonce will put a record out, and when she does it will be monumental. So we’re in really, really good shape.”
For Bey, this notion makes her record supposedly in the works even before Blue Ivy was born a lot to live up to. Or else, it means a record exec is hinting at a comeback. On the other hand, tracks like “Standing on the Sun,” “Grown Woman,” and “God Made You Beautiful” all seemed to fall through the cracks or not to be good enough for a formal release.
In the case of “Grown Woman,” a video clip surfaced this week. Although her label since pulled it, its presence online started rumors of a proper single release, or maybe even a video. If you can recall, “Grown Woman” appeared in a Pepsi commercial but didn’t go any farther than that.
