In an interview with Rolling Stone out today, Geoff Barrow of Portishead discussed the group’s plans for the 20th anniversary of debut Dummy. While Barrow revealed that they have no plans for a rerelease, repackaging with B-sides, or any similar cleaned-up anniversary edition, he did disclose that Portishead will begin working on a new album in January 2012. First, though, the band will do a tour, starting on October 1.
Starting in January seems to be Barrow’s deadline to begin working. Jessie J was due to join Katy Perry on the North American leg of the "California Dreams" tour, but she has been forced to pull out of the tour as she continues to recover from a bone transplant in her foot.
Writing on Twitter yesterday, Jessie wrote, “Having a cry about having to pull out of the Katy Perry tour. I am as upset as my #heartbeats (sic) believe me. My foot is just not healing as well as I hoped.”

After taking home the Grammy award, the Brit award, and the Juno award for Album of the Year, Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs has added another prize to its shelf: best Canadian album of the past 12 months, earning the 2011 Polaris Music Prize, announced yesterday evening in Toronto.
The indie rocker’s third album bested some high-profile competition, including R&B artist The Weeknd, indie veterans Destroyer, and art rock band Braids.

Rumors continue to circulate about an alleged on-the-rocks romance between singer Alicia Keys and hubby Swizz Beats, but according to recent tweets and birthday parties between the two, all is well.
Keys was recently photographed standing next to a custom-made Lotus sports car, given to her for his—not her—birthday.
“The best part of my Bday today was my gift I made my wife because my Bday is her Bday,” tweeted Swizz.
Keys was quick to return the favor, throwing the now 33-year-old producer a surprise skating birthday party at High Line skating rink in New York City on Monday.

For a bit of local flavor at some of her Speak Now tour dates, Taylor Swift has been covering songs from popular artists hailing from a handful of metropolitan areas: Bon Jovi in New Jersey and Eminem in Detroit, among others. Swift did Nashville on Friday, but rather than invite or cover a popular country star, she brought on Hayley Williams of Paramore for a duet of “That’s What You Get.”
