In an interview with Rolling Stone out today, Geoff Barrow of Portishead discussed the group’s plans for the 20th anniversary of debut Dummy. While Barrow revealed that they have no plans for a rerelease, repackaging with B-sides, or any similar cleaned-up anniversary edition, he did disclose that Portishead will begin working on a new album in January 2012. First, though, the band will do a tour, starting on October 1.
Starting in January seems to be Barrow’s deadline to begin working. He told the magazine: “I don't know when Beth [Gibbon]'s gonna start or when Adrian [Utley] is gonna start, but I'm gonna get my head together for January basically to start writing. Historically that could mean f*cking 10 years. […] Read more »

The indie rocker’s third album bested some high-profile competition, including R&B artist The Weeknd, indie veterans Destroyer, and art rock band Braids.
Drummer Jeremy Gara and multi-instrumentalist Richard Parry accepted the award on behalf of the band. “Anyone who is under 18 and playing music and everyone who has ever been on stage and had the opportunity to play music and have someone hear it, just stick with it, because in 20 years you could be up here and have an album much better than this,” Gara said.[…] Read more »
