Music streaming site Spotify has released Res and Talib Kweli’s collaborative effort, “Habits of the Heart,” a full three weeks before the Idle Warship group’s album is set to drop in stores.
According to Steve Savoca, head of content for Spotify, the site had full permission from Kweli to stream the album.
"Talib already had a relationship with Spotify," Savoca said to Billboard. "He was part of the initial invite strategy when we launched the service and he approached us [about making the early stream available]. I think it's a very smart and progressive business strategy. We represent an enormous amount of very proactive music fans and they're looking for new things."[…] Read more »
At some point over the past decade, it seemed that country-folk singer/songwriter Ryan Adams aimed to release a new album every year. But then, at some point, he stopped putting out recordings. Did he just lose his creative streak? Was he burnt out?
Not releasing an album for two and a half years, Adams had his latest, Ashes & Fire, hit stores today. The New York Times caught up with the singer in an interview.
Ashes & Fire was engineered and produced by Glyn Johns, who worked with the Beatles, the Who, and the Rolling Stones on some of their memorable recordings. Beyonce is a fashion junkie’s dream on the cover of November’s Harper’s Bazaar. Sporting numerous haute couture looks in the spread, B also got candid, answering not only the obligatory fashion questions, but also the ones about her enduring relationship with husband and soon-to-be partner in parenting, Jay-Z.
The Queen, who is regularly garbed to the nines in Givenchy and Tom Ford fashions, admits having fun with maternity clothes and is creating an addendum to her House of Dereon line for mommies-to-be. However, she still finds fashion inspiration in others.
Are you gearing up for Rihanna’s new album Talk That Talk on November 21? The deluxe edition, on the other hand, captures RiRi in bad-girl mode; in a black and white photograph, the singer blows smoke.[…] Read more »
Kanye West has been busy these days.
Besides his part-time gig as an awards show troublemaker, impromptu appearances at NYC parties and shopping trips with Jay-Z and Beyonce, Mr. West also debuted his ready-to-wear women’s apparel line on the runways of Paris Fashion Week earlier this month, to mixed reviews. Most recently the rapper was captured mingling with the Occupy Wall Street protesters on Monday alongside media mogul Russell Simmons.
To be honest, Yeezy looked quite exhausted while walking through the crowd. Simmons took it upon himself to serve as the rapper’s spokesman. […] Read more »
Beyonce may be “expecting,” but that’s not slowing her down. The diva donned an afro wig, oversized earrings and a bright gold ensemble to deliver a special pre-taped performance for the Michael Jackson tribute concert, held Saturday, October 8.
“I am especially excited to introduce this very special performance by an amazing performer,” said Jackson’s eldest child, Prince Michael, standing alongside his brother and sister, Blanket and Paris. “She gave of her time, talent and energy to be part of this night’s event, even though she is halfway across the world.”
Jackson’s daughter Paris, wearing her own little hot red “Beat It” number as a fashion nod to her late dad, added, “She is always pushing the envelope with her boundless energy and talent. […] Read more »
