No More Interviews for Chris Brown
2011 was Chris Brown’s comeback year, scoring several singles from his last album F.A.M.E. To continue on this streak, Brown is working on a follow-up to his successful album and doing another movie. Yet, to keep his image intact and his career focused, Brown won’t be doing any interviews, according to Tina Davis of TDC/Phase.
In an interview with Billboard, Davis discussed the strategy behind Brown’s bouncing back, stating: “It was about us keeping the faith, and focusing on believing in God's plan for Chris. Since he was 14, Chris has had a creative vision and direction for himself. So it was easy to work with him and figure out how to deal with the setbacks. Of course, I could have said, ‘This is what you're going to do... […] Read more »
Bono And The Edge Pleased With Spider-Man Show
The Spider-Man musical, written by U2 members Bono and The Edge, last week broke a Broadway record by bringing in almost $3 million in just one week of 9 performances. This puts "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" into the category of becoming the highest single week grossing show of all time. This record was previously held by "Wicked" which only last year (about this time) grossed over $2.2 million in box office takings for the week. This now makes it the highest money-earner in Broadway history.
"What a fantastic bit of news to kick off 2012," commented U2 band members Bono and the Edge on the production's history-making box office record. "It just goes to show that you can't keep a good superhero down."[…] Read more »
The Killers Planning to Release New Album in 2012
Forget the last single The Killers put out? You’re not alone. The Las Vegas band behind “Somebody Told Me” went on hiatus after touring for their 2008 album Day & Age. Over the last three years, frontman Brandon Flowers put out his own solo record, Flamingo, in 2010, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci also did a solo release, titled Big Talk.
This past week, Flowers had an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and revealed The Killers are putting out a new album in 2012, either in summer or winter. In fact, he mentioned, the band has already recorded a few songs. Flowers spoke specifically of track “Battle Born,” saying: "[It’s] a killer on the record."[…] Read more »

Azealia Banks is Female Rap's Hottest Young Newcomer
Azealia Banks is hot right now.
Thanks to the success of her virally popular single, “212,” and its accompanying video, the music newcomer is making waves. With “212” comes a number three ranking on the BBC’s Sound of 2012 list, a Coachella Music and Arts Festival booking and a rumored signing to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music label; the “Stronger” rapper called her the “future of music.” Banks’ star is certainly rising high.
However, with acclaim come accusations. Banks is already being put at odds with other female rappers.
“People have their knives out, especially with the Nicki Minaj comparisons and all that other stuff,” said Azealia to the BBC. “They’re aiming at me and they’re ready to destroy me before I’ve even gotten to where I’m supposed to go. […] Read more »
