The Weeknd Returns from Break With New Single “Often”

The Weeknd Returns from Break With New Single “Often”

R&B sensation The Weeknd has been relatively silent throughout most of 2014. The singer who came up with his own self-produced and released albums, put out under Trilogy in 2012, returned this week with new track “Often.”

Announced with a tweet on June 24, the song’s both a typical turn for the Canadian-born singer, as well as a routine exercise in R&B lyrics. Hear the new track on his Soundcloud page.

At the same time the new track dropped, a tour with SchoolBoy Q and Jhené Aiko was announced for the fall. […] Read more »

Frank Ocean Fires Management, PR Rep to Go in New Direction for Sophomore Album

Frank Ocean Fires Management, PR Rep to Go in New Direction for Sophomore Album

Frank Ocean’s a relatively private person, down to his life and the music he makes. Therefore, it’s not surprising he’s revealed scant details about his sophomore album, expected to drop sometime over the next year.

However, a source came forward to BuzzFeed this week to provide an extremely pertinent update. While we still don’t know when Ocean’s next album will come out or what it will be titled, the source stated that the “Super Rich Kids” singer recently fired his management and publicist – all to put his career in a new direction.

Specifically, Ocean dropped Christian and Kelly Clancy, the management team still working with Odd Future and who assisted Ocean for his debut. There’s no word who’s replacing them.[…] Read more »

Jerry Lee Lewis Announces New Album 'Rock & Roll Time,' Out Later in 2014

Jerry Lee Lewis Announces New Album 'Rock & Roll Time,' Out Later in 2014

On the pop music spectrum, Jerry Lee Lewis is considered a relic of another era. Yet, after a sporadic output of original material in the 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared to make a comeback over the past decade. Two albums have dropped since 2006, and Lewis just announced his third this week.

Called Rock & Roll Time, the new album comes out later this year on Vanguard Records and coincides with an autobiography. The release follows Last Man Standing, which came out in 2006 and peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard 200, and Mean Old Man, which followed four years later and peaked at No. 39.

Prior to that, his last full-length studio album was 1995's Young Blood.[…] Read more »

Ma$e Plans Major Artist Collaborations for 'Now We Even'

Ma$e appeared to have everything a successful rapper could ever want in the late 1990s, but by the 2000s, his career halted, with only 2004'sWelcome Back and the occasional collaboration keeping him relevant. Alicia Keys Reveals Concept Album for 2015

Alicia Keys Reveals Concept Album for 2015

Less than two years ago, Alicia Keys turned out Girl on Fire, which went onto do well on the charts, score a Grammy for Best R&B Album, and generate a hit single with its title track. Now, as 2014 reaches its midpoint, Keys spoke about her plans for a follow-up to WWD.

In promoting a new Givenchy fragrance, she told the fashion magazine that, rather than solely focus on melody this time around, she has a concept album in mind.
