A Place to Bury Strangers Announce New Album

Noise rock band A Place to Bury Strangers has announced a new album, Worship, which will be released June 26 in the U.S. and June 11 in the U.K. and Europe via Dead Oceans.

The album is a follow-up to 2009's Exploding Head, and the first full-length release for their new label, following this year's Onwards to the Wall EP. The album was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by the band themselves.

Guitarist Dion Lunadon told Death + Taxes, "The album... is our vision of what our music should sound like in 2012, not someone else's interpretation. Every sound on the album is made by us and our tools; tools created by us, used on no other recordings, and purposefully built for this project... […] Read more »

Madonna Tops Elvis With 12th U.K. No. 1 Album

Madonna Tops Elvis With 12th U.K. No. 1 Album

Yesterday marked a milestone in Madonna's career, as she surpassed Elvis as the solo artist with the most chart-topping albums in the U.K. Her new album, MDNA, while critically lambasted, was her 12th U.K. Number 1 album.

Madonna earned her first Number 1 back in 1985 with Like a Virgin. Two more followed in the 1980s (True Blue and Like a Prayer), three in the 1990s (Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, and the Evita soundtrack), and five last decade. Her new album sold 56,000 copies last week, according to the Official Charts Company, which is a surprise given that the first single off the record, "Give Me All Your Luvin'" peaked at only 37 on the UK singles chart.[…] Read more »

Art Rockers Liars Talk New Album

Art Rockers Liars Talk New Album

Art Rockers Liars are set to release their sixth studio album on June 5 on Mute, and now they've unveiled the title: WIXIW.

Yes, WIXIW. Confused? The band released a video (since removed) featured various people pronouncing the title "wish you."

As leadman Angus Andrew told Pitchfork, "With our music, we try to convey everyday ideas, but they get all mixed up and hard to read after they've gone through our musical process. It's a palindrome, and that interested us as far as the idea of starting somewhere, going through a lot of work, and ending up in the same place you started."[…] Read more »
