Passion Pit has announced the follow-up to their 2009 studio debut album, Gossamer.

The 12-track LP will be released on July 24th. The follow-up has been in the works for some time now. The band's Michael Angelakos told NME back in 2010 that the new album is "gonna be really fantastic, exciting, beautiful, gorgeous record. An absolutely beautiful record. I'm so excited."

He continued, "We're aligning it with the Farmers' Almanac in America, so when the buds start to bloom is when we kind of wanna release it. Like when life starts to come back. We wanna be pretty literal."

The buds will sure be in bloom when the band steps out this spring and summer for numerous festival performances and 2 co-headlining performances at Red Rocks (with Justice) and the Hollywood Bowl (with Hot Chip). […] Read more »

Cat Power has announced today her ninth album, Sun, which is set to be released this fall by Matador.

The announcement came through a couple Twitter posts by Chan Marshall over the weekend:

"I HAVE FINISHED MY RECORD... IT IS CALLED 'SUN.'"

It's been four years since 2008 covers album Jukebox and six since her last album of original work, 2006's The Greatest.

The singer had previously told NME that she intends to play every instrument on the new record. "There's an inspiration in being furious that you want to achieve your goals," she explained. "I think I was inspired by being disappointed in myself that I'd just been holding and microphone and I was disappointed in myself that I hadn't been playing an instrument."[…] Read more »

Just how certain is a Goodie Mob reunion? As certain as a new single performed on The Voice. While Cee-Lo Green has spoken about a reunion back in February, we haven’t heard any new material. Although Green is working on another solo effort, Goodie Mob is putting out a release titled Age Against The Machine.

Social media definitely has its highs and lows! Twitter is constantly exploding with celebrity drama and revelations, and every now and then a celeb feels compelled to just shut it all down. Earlier this month Nicki Minaj deactivated her Twitter account after one of her fansites leaked part of her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded before the release date. Not only did Nicki close down her Twitter but the fansite Nicki Daily also shut down.

It’s no secret that teen star Demi Lovato has had her fair share of personal struggles in the past couple of years. She’s battled an eating disorder and drug use and now the singer/actress is discussing her dark past, stating that it’s very easy to go down the wrong path as a celebrity.

During an interview with Fabulous magazine, Demi admitted it’s not easy to talk about her past however she shed some light on what led her to dabble in drubs, "What I can say is that I was depressed. Eighteen years after the passing of Nirvana’s front man Kurt Cobain a new track featuring the grunge rocker and his wife Courtney Love has bubbled to the surface.  The never before song is a duet entitled ‘Stinking of You’. 

Confirmed by NME, ‘Stinking of You’ will be seen on the new rock documentary directed by P. David Ebersole entitled ‘Hit So Hard: The Life And Near Death Story Of Patty Schemel’.  The documentary chronicles the former Hole drummer's life and self-destructive streak with drugs and more, while delving into the Seattle music scene that exploded back in the 90’s.”
