Lauryn Hill Signs Deal with Sony and May Avoid Jail Time?
It looks like there may be a way out for Lauryn Hill, who is currently facing jail time for tax fraud. During her April 22 court date, the R&B singer’s attorney Sarah Moser, revealed that Lauryn signed a deal with Sony Music for $1 million. The deal was made in agreement for recording five new songs, in addition to profit earned for an entire album of music. The songs have yet to be written or recorded.
Hill has already plead guilty for failing to pay the taxes on an income of $1.8million during the years of 2005, 2006 and 2007. Right now she owes $504,000 – this is after paying off $50,000 in late 2012. The Judge, Madeline Cox, has agreed to postpone the tax evasion sentencing until May 6th to allow Lauryn some time to get her ducks in a row and pay off her debts. […] Read more »
Alicia Keys and Maxwell Release "Fire We Make" Music Video
Alicia Keys and Maxwell debuted the music video for their new single “Fire we Make” off of Alicia’s most current album, Girl on Fire.
Directed by Chris Robinson, the music video is set in the French Quarter of old New Orleans, and pictures Alicia and Maxwelll acting like strangers during the day and lovers by night. Robinson has previously worked with Alicia, lending his directing talents to the music videos for “Fallin”, “Karma”, “Superwoman”, “Teenage Love Affair” and “You Don’t Know my Name”.
The song is a soulful, slow and romantic single with an equally “fiery” music video to match. Maxwell’s falsetto perfection was the cherry on top to complete the steamy tune.[…] Read more »
Did Will.i.am Steal a Song?
Remember that whole “Collide”/“Fade Into Darkness” debacle back in 2011? Consider this recent news story part two: Russian DJ Arty, through a Twitter post, revealed that Will.i.am’s recent song “Let’s Go” borrows from “Rebound.”
Much like Avicii calling out Lewis on Twitter, the issue began on April 16 when Arty tweeted a link of “Let’s Go” to “Rebound” collaborator Matt Zo, following up with: “Now I see why Mat left twitter, cause he couldn't handle sh-t like this. […] Read more »
H.I.M. Previewing New Album Before Release
Back in December 2012, H.I.M.’s Ville Vallo revealed to Revolver the band was putting the finishing touches on its latest studio album, Tears on Tape. Now that Tears is scheduled to drop in the U.S. on April 30, H.I.M. now have five songs available for streaming.

Cher Reveals Upcoming Album Finally Complete
Excluding her contributions to the Burlesque soundtrack, Cher’s last proper album was 2001’s Living Proof. A release, however, seemed to be taking shape when Cher started promoting Burlesque back in 2010, but save for the leaked “Women’s World,” we have yet to get a full record.
On Monday, the singer, however, revealed the release is finally done, tweeting that her last song was recorded. Over the course of two days, she wrote: “Got to down & Finish last song ! Then it DONE !! Jakes here putting some parts down & a Harmony ! Must chech it out ! Later lovelies

New Daft Punk Single Out in Full, Breaks Spotify Record
At the end of last week, clips of seemingly-unfinished track “Get Lucky” made it onto the web. But since the rough cuts began circulating, a more official version of Daft Punk’s first single from Random Access Memories came out on April 19.
The track, which features Pharrell on vocals and Chic’s Nile Rodgers on guitar, can only be described as a return to form for the French duo, particularly after the instrumental-leaning tracks like “Robot Rock” from 2005’s Human After All. A disco vibe, enhanced by Rodger’s seductive guitar playing, gives the track a retro-modern character – a sound equally apt to fit in with a 1970s playlist as it is with the rest of electronic music’s cannon.[…] Read more »
