New My Bloody Valentine Album to Drop in Two to Three Days
In December 2012, Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine revealed the band would release its follow-up to 1991’s Loveless by the end of the year. That time passed, however, but Shields since addressed the album again at their Brixton’s Electric live show, stating it will be out in two or three days. Are you holding your breath?
During the performance, the band only played one new track, a song called “Rough Song.” Brixton warmed them up for their full-fledged tour of Australia and Japan, with U.K. dates following in March.
In previously talking about the album, Shield explained: “I think with this record, people who like us will immediately connect with something. Based on the very, very few people who’ve heard stuff – some engineers, the band, and that’s about it – some people think it’s stranger than ‘Loveless’. I don’t. I feel like it really frees us up, and in the bigger picture it’s 100 per cent necessary."
Prior to breaking up in the second half of the 1990s, My Bloody Valentine put out two albums, with the second being the now-classic Loveless. The group reunited in 2007, with Shields revealing the upcoming album in 2012 through a Facebook post.
In addition to re-released material, the group, according to Shields, plans to put out on EP of new songs at a later date.
