New Music Releases: September 25, 2012
After a summer of slow releases, we’re finally seeing some big albums being dropped and, hopefully, fans who have been patiently waiting for their favorite artists’ new music won’t be disappointed. Here’s a look at what’s being released today.
Uno (Green Day) – The first installment in Green Day’s three album Uno, Dos, Tre trilogy becomes available today with the remaining two being released between now and January 2013. When the band announced the ambitious effort, some wondered if it would be too much to pull off. Perhaps, the pressure has become too much for frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, who recently entered rehab.
Push and Shove (No Doubt) – it has been 11 long years since No Doubt released an album (although, we have had the benefit of lead singer, Gwen Stefani, as a solo artist) but, finally, the wait is over. So much has happened in their lives in more than a decade, most notably, Stefani married and became the mother of two boys. Still, it’s apparent from their lead track “Settle Down” that the band has lost none of their former charm.
Babel (Mumford & Sons) – Fresh off a performance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, the British band is releasing their second studio album and it’s already receiving high praise from fans. It’s hard to believe that, with that sound, they don’t come from somewhere in the southern states but their soulful sound truly originates from London making it that much more eclectic.
Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap (Lupe Fiasco) – Life hasn’t always been easy for Lupe Fiasco but it looks like he’s returning to his musical roots. He first released Food & Liquor back in 2006 when he was known as nothing more than a skater kid from Chicago. Now, six years later, he’s picking up where that album left off and his rhymes are proof that, for him, no topic is off-limits.
