New Music Releases: October 2, 2012

There is a great variety of music to choose from this week including pop and Christmas songs! New Music Releases: October 2, 2012

While there aren’t any hugely anticipated albums dropping this week, there are certainly a few noteworthy titles.  This week’s releases come from all around the world and, really, span a variety if genres (and even combine a couple – country Christmas music, anyone?).  Check it out!

Sticks & Stones (Cher Lloyd) – The former X Factor U.K. contestant first gained popularity with her single “Swagger Jagger” but it took a year for her debut album, Sticks & Stones, to finally come to the U.S. Most recently “Want U Back” has performed very well but it hasn’t been a perfect summer for the rising star – fans threw urine at her during a performance at V Festival!

Lightning (Matt and Kim) – The indie pop group rose from Brooklyn back in 2005 and, in case you are unfamiliar with them by name, you can be pretty certain that you’ve heard the first single from their fourth album, “Let’s Go.”  They have also released “Now” and their upcoming track “Much Too Late” was leaked late last month.

Kaleidoscope Dream (Miguel) – Miguel may be the next great R&B artist and, hopefully, enough people will be willing to check out his album to hear just how talented he is.  From his song “Adorn” which is reminiscent of a Marvin Gaye track to the more modern sounds of “The Thrill,” his songs are easy to groove to and are great example that a more laid-back sound can be just as pleasing to the ears.

Glad Rag Doll (Diana Krall) – Looking for a little mellow jazz music in this world of autotune and electronica?  Fortunately, Canadian crooner, Diane Krall, has delivered yet another album for those seeking a more mature sound.  There’s a whopping 17 tracks on her most recent compilation.

Gold Dust (Tori Amos) – This album is meant to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of Amos’ debut solo album, Little Earthquakes, and includes reworked versions of songs taken from that album and the music she has released since then.

Cheers, It’s Christmas (Blake Shelton) – This swinging collection of country infused renditions of Christmas classics is a lot of fun and includes great collaborations with other artists including Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson and Michael Bublé.
