New Music Releases: July 17, 2012

This week's new releases include a soundtrack, a blast from the past and much more. New Music Releases: July 17, 2012

Here’s a look at some of the highlights from the albums that were released today:

Life is Good (Nas) – It’s been four years since 2008’s Untitled but, finally, Nas is releasing his 10th studio album. Nas called making the album a "magic moment" in his rap career. This is will be the rapper’s final album under Def Jam Records and it features collaborations with Rick Ross, Mary J. Blige, Miguel, Swizz Beatz and Amy Winehouse!

The Dark Knight Rises: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (various artists) – The Dark Knight Rises is arguably the most highly anticipated movie of 2012 and what better way to commemorate its release than to have the soundtrack blasting in your car on the way home from that midnight showing?

Someday (Susanna Hoffs) – Remember the Bangles?  I know I do. I used to listen to “Eternal Flame” and wish I was lead singer, Susanna Hoffs.  I’ve often wondered where she’s been and, if you have been too, the mystery has been solved. She’s been making music and has released this great little album where she proves that time may have passed but her voice is as good as ever.

Now That’s What I Call British (various artists) – Well this might seem a bit silly to include but it totally works for a couple good reasons.  The first is that the Summer Olympic Games are in London this year so why not get into the Brit spirit with some local music?  The other reason is that there are some genuinely great songs on this compilation which seems perfect for backyard fun during these summer months. Worth checking out.
