New Music from Kanye West Coming Soon
Updates about Kanye West’s sixth’s studio album have been brief and sporadic, with no outright statement from the rapper himself. Over the past week, off the heels of West’s “June Eighteen” Twitter update, West performed what is assumed to be a new album track called “I Am a God,” while other artists spoke about his progress.
With Kim Kardashian accompanying him on the red carpet, West performed at the Met Gala. Audience members described his performance as “screaming.” To see for yourself, watch the Vine video taken by DJ A-Trak posted on the Huffington Post here.
Even with June 18 as the album’s unofficial release date, the follow-up to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has yet to be completed. While it has been reported West previewed the album, which has been recorded in Paris, to Def Jam in New York, the track list has not been finalized.
Screaming aside, West collaborated with a diverse pool of artists, from Daft Punk and Skrillex to John Legend and Odd Future to Chief Keef. Right now, only collaborators and artists close to West have talked about the release.
Much like keeping Watch The Throne under wraps, very little has been revealed about this follow-up. 2 Chains stated to the press: "You know I'm not going to tell you anything about that crazy-ass boy! Just know that Mr. West has some dope [music] on the way."
Legend, meanwhile, said: "His only goal in this whole thing is to make something beautiful – that's his North Star. From a very early point, back in 2001, Kanye believed that he had something that the world needed to hear. A lot about him has stayed the same."
