New Maroon 5 Single Featuring Christina Aguilera Will Premiere on “The Voice”
The Voice may be just an American Idol knockoff that shows just how far better criticism from professional musicians can be (straight to the point and no Simon Cowell-esque snark). Beyond the studio set and those futuristic-looking chairs, however, judges Adam Levine, of Maroon 5, and Christina Aguilera collaborated on a new single that will premiere on the show on June 21, 9-11 EDT. After the broadcast, the song, titled “Moves Like Jagger,” will be available for downloading on iTunes.
Maroon 5 and Aguilera recorded the track last month in Los Angeles, and based on early reports, “Moves Like Jagger” is expected to be another upbeat, power pop tune. TV By The Numbers quotes Levine as stating: “The guys and I recorded this track in L.A. last month and it was great getting to work with Christina on it as well. We are excited to perform it for our fans on ‘The Voice’ and on the road this summer.”
Aguilera agreed in the same interview: “Collaborating with Adam and Maroon 5 on this great song was a wonderful opportunity and I am looking forward to performing with them live on ‘The Voice.’”
After The Voice wraps up in June, Levine and the rest of his band are expected to go on the road with Train for a dual-headlining tour. Starting in July, both bands will perform 40 shows in North America.
Although there’s no word yet if Aguilera will accompany them at any point for the track, The Voice has appeared to be an image booster for Aguilera, who flubbed the National Anthem and saw album Bionic and film Burlesque both flop this past year.
As far as The Voice is concerned, Aguilera and Levine are expected to return for a second season. The other two judges, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, are also expected to come back.
