Lady Gaga - Paparazzi Song Review
"Paparazzi" is the sixth single released from her debut album, "The Fame". It is the third single released in the United Kingdom, fourth single in the USA, & fifth single in Australia.
The song identifies Lady GaGa as the protagonist who is a paparazzi in love with a male lead who does not reciprocate the feeling. She insists on continuing the pursuit of this character until he does love her.
"It`s about everyone`s obsession with that idea of wooing the paparazzi and wanting fame," she explains. "It`s not to be taken completely seriously. It`s also about wanting a guy to love you and the struggle of whether you can have success or love, or both."
The video is directed by Jonas Äkerlund (whose has collaborated with the likes of Madonna and Prodigy) and sees GaGa as a sort of Princess Diana-meets-Madonna figure: The eight-minute video follows a murderous plotline in which GaGa plays a tortured (but savvy) starlet who, though relentlessly preyed upon by photogs, has the last media laugh.
