Why did Foxy have to go and get her hearing back? Thanks to her "miraculous" recovery, Clipse may now have to give this in-demand beat-- originally intended for the Ill Na Na-- back. Deemed an automatic smash by some shadowy hip hop oracle (probably the same baby genius who thought "Can I Have It Like That" was the next "Hot In Herre"), the much-touted instrumental half-pops like a calypso remix of N.O.R.E.`s "Super Thug". It`s a bit haughty for Clipse, and the lack of dissonance doesn`t, uh, jive exactly. But the boys keep cracking wise nonetheless, and stick it to the Neptunes` staccato blips with the aid of a hulking Slim Thug, perfectly positioned for hooky nonsense.
When Push initiates with "No hotter flow dropper since Poppa," nobody`s blinking. And when Mal leans on stereotypes to describe his necessary materials with "Mildew-ish, I heat it, it turns bluish/ It cools to a tight wad-- the Pyrex is Jewish," nobody`s offended. Few twists are added to the game, but when fiendish customers are a "line outside full of Jo Jo Dancers," the same old is sufficient. Let`s face it, at this point, the hype behind Hell Hath No Fury is basically insurmountable. To wit, as just any new rap song, I`ll take "Wamp Wamp" all day; as the big one from HHNF, I can take it or leave it.
