Muse Release New Single 'Survival'
The Official London Olympic Games Anthem "Survival" has now hit the web. The awe-inspiring, spirit-lifting song was written by Matthew Bellamy, frontman for the famed English rock band, Muse. It is so great that the anthem for London Olympic Games was written and sung by fellow countrymen.
The track is an epic amalgamation of rock song with intense orchestra additions throughout. No doubt it will be the spirit-rising anthem that will lift the souls of athlete and audience alike. "Survival" is the song that will be played throughout the Games and whenever the athletes enter the London Olympic Stadium.
When Matthew Bellamy wrote this song, he had "the Olympics in his mind". Very fortunately for him, this song was then chosen as the official games anthem.
The lyrics repeat the message of winning, "Race, life's a race/And I'm gonna win/Yes, I'm gonna win". The Olympics revere the winner, the gold medallist. This track represents the Olympic spirit perfectly.
Muse were pleasantly surprised that their song was chosen as THE anthem for the London Olympics. On their website they wrote, "We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, survival, has been selected by the London Olympic committee..."
"Survival" is a track taken from their next album The 2nd Law which is expected to be released in September this year. Taking a bold move, according to Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme, the band wanted to try "something radically different". According to a video trailer, Muse have hence created tracks involving global economy, increasing fuel costs and other unpleasant topics. Fans will have to wait a few short months, however.
The single "Survival" is now available on iTunes and in the muse.mu store.
