Muse Plans Next Album for 2015
Muse’s 2012 release The 2nd Law took everyone by surprise with its dubstep-influenced sound. Now, according to an interview Matt Bellamy gave with Triple J, the group is writing a follow-up with a more back-to-basics sound.
Recording hasn’t started yet, but Bellamy explained the state of their progress, saying: "I've written some good tracks, actually. We haven't had a chance to rehearse them out yet. We'll take a break next year for a little few months and then we'll get in the studio. If it all goes very well, the new album could well be early 2015 or late 2015. Christmas 2014 might be [when we release] our next single."
Bellamy further mentioned that the electronic elements and orchestral textures of their latest two releases will be absent for this possible 2015 release: “It's the comedown and the sort of waking up the next day being like, 'What the f-ck? What the f-ck? That was crazy'…I kind of feel like it will be nice to reconnect and remind ourselves of just the basics of who we are.”
Where do you think Muse should go with their sound?
As their sixth studio album, The 2nd Law netted Muse its highest U.S. album on the charts, opening at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. However, even with a lower chart rank, The Resistance managed to push more copies its first week.
