"Misery Business" Video Review
Misery Business is pretty much the kind of chick-baiting ass-kicking anthem you'd expect to lead off US tykes Paramore's upcoming second record, Riot!. Lead chanteuse Hayley Williams cuts a razor sharp line through the single's manipulative, boy-stealing lead bitch, professing such niceties as "second chances they don't ever matter, people never change" and "once a whore you're nothing more" along the way.
Have Paramore created the kind of song that potentially inspires young girls to steal other young girl's men (without the long wait) so they can be happy? Maybe! However, what's important here is the music, and this is a damn fine slice of melodic pop-punk to soothe a broken soul or just rock out to if your drunk with your other half or just your mates. The reason this one is so darn catchy is because of the soaring guitars provided by Josh Farro and Jeremy Davis on guitar and bass guitar respectively.
It's a frenetic number a touch reminiscent of No Doubt's more upbeat efforts, although vocally, Williams is a better singer than Gwen Stefani. On the downside, it is lyrically bland, and does nothing new musically - although with the style of music they've chosen its virtually impossible to be anything but derivative.
PS: sorry that we're this late with this video, it just slipped.
