Mel B Plans to Revive Solo Career, Perform on ‘X Factor’
Just as the Spice Girls were finishing up their time in the spotlight in the early 2000s, Mel B launched a solo career. Her last album dropped in 2005, and the singer formerly known as Scary Spice has since gone on to being a reality TV personality. But who says she can’t combine both?
Reports claim that the America’s Got Talent judge has plans to return to her solo career, with the goal of performing her new single on the X Factor and then later putting out an album.
Sources tell the tabloid she has been working with Anthony Preston, supposedly one of Britney Spears’ favorite producers. A source further said: “She [Mel] has spent the last few weeks working on tracks and wants to make a big impact with a killer pop record when X Factor goes live.”
And then claimed that Simon Cowell will be “forced” to let her perform on the show.
For those following Mel B’s solo career, her first album, Hot, came out in 2000. The release, which peaked at No. 28 on the U.K. Albums chart, came out close to the Spice Girls’ last album, Forever, and generated three singles: “Tell Me,” “Feels So Good,” and “Lullaby.”
She followed that five years later with LA State of Mind, which didn’t chart. The album resulted in single “Today,” which peaked at No. 41 on the U.K. Singles chart.
