Marvin Gaye's Son Not Happy With Upcoming Biopic
It was just recently announced that Lenny Kravitz has been cast to portray the late Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic about his life that many feel is way overdue. His family, however, may not share the enthusiasm.
It’s being reported that Gaye’s son, Marvin Gaye III, is very unhappy about the movie which has been tentatively titled Sexual Healing. The film is supposed to examine the singer’s life in the 1980s during the darkest years of his life when he was struggling with drugs and alcohol.
Marvin Gaye III feels that the “directors of this film are very wrong and shameful” and is frustrated since they are attempting to recreate “a low period in his life” but are going about it all wrong since “they don’t even know the whole story.”
To add insult to injury in the son’s eyes, he grew up with Kravitz and even went to the same school as kids. Gaye said that he plans to talk to him about his involvement and added that he hopes that Kravitz “doesn’t have any idea that we are against this film being done.”
The “Let’s Get It On” crooner’s family is attempting to block the movie through legal action.
