Mariah Carey Leads into New Album With “Thirsty” Single
Just a few weeks ago, the album that had been called The Art of Letting Go for nearly the past year became Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse and had a new release date of May 27. Likely to lead up to that point, especially as singles have been dropping for close to two years now, Carey debuted “Thirsty” this week.
The singer tried a traditional approach this time – unlike releasing the album’s title track on Facebook last year – by having “Thirsty” out on the radio, with Power 105.1 letting listeners hear it.
With a trap sound, “Thirsty” was produced by Hitboy and features Rich Homie Quan.
“Thirsty” comes after “You’re Mine (Eternal),” which received positive reviews from critics but performed poorly on the charts. The track, so far, has peaked at No. 88 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Before this, Carey’s team put out “The Art of Letting Go,” “#Beautiful,” her collaboration with Miguel, and “Triumphant.”
While we’ll have to wait and see what Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse entails in full, Carey has wanted fans to treat this as if it were her last album. If you haven’t had a chance to hear “Thirsty” yet, listen to it here:
