Mariah Carey Confirmed as New American Idol Judge!

It’s official!  After much speculation Mariah Carey has joined American Idol and will be sitting on the judges’ panel.  Can you imagine?  The diva herself?  This is going to be crazy! 

The announcement comes from Fox President Kevin Reilly who just told reporters at the TV Critics Association press tour that Carey closed a deal.  

Reilly really summed it up best when he said: "It's the biggest recording artist than any of these shows have ever had. It's an artist many of these contestants have tried to emulate. [The deal] only concluded only hours ago. Not being the only game in town, we need to keep things fresh."

Unbelievable but he’s definitely got a point. Now that The Voice has been doing so well and X Factor added the fresh faces of Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, they do have to revamp their lineup a little bit, even though I did like the chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

The songstress also confirmed the news via speakerphone and said: "I am so excited to be joining Idol. I wish I could have been there myself to tell you. It all kind of just happened real quickly. I can't wait to get started in a couple months…I will see you in January!"

I think it would be great if Randy Jackson stayed because he and Carey have a history which is something Reilly pointed out: "Randy has been working with Mariah for a long, long time and is in fact her co-manager. Randy was very instrumental in this deal."

Incredible!  I’m actually excited for the auditions next season!
