Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Plan to Start Recording New Album in Second Half of 2014
There has supposedly been a new album from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in the works – or at least one they’ve talked about. The rapper gave an interview about it in November 2013, explaining they would devote a block of time to doing just that in 2014.
Still, the two have been on the road doing shows across the globe in support of The Heist, so fans have wondered what the status is. Lewis gave it this week in an interview with the Huffington Post.
Lewis went into more detail this time, explaining they plan to enter the studio and stay there, seven days a week, for the second half of 2014. While they’ve delayed recording, they have some rough drafts in the works.
About their process, which is more collaborative than many would think, he said: “For Ben and I, we just have a history of very much fully diving in and focusing on one aspect of what we’re doing and trying to really put other things to the sidelines. If we’re touring, we just don’t have a good track record of jumping in and writing songs and going to various studios.”
The Heist is the duo’s second album and their first major-label effort. It reached a high of No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart last year and generated such successful singles as “Thrift Shop” and “Same Love.”
