Ma$e Releases New Single “Why Can’t We”
All the way back in October, Ma$e talked about putting together a new album. The release, depending on when it drops, would be his first in nearly a decade. Welcome Back, his last album, came out in 2004, and the rapper known for a harder persona in the late 1990s hasn’t put out anything since, save for some collaborations.
This week, Ma$e let everyone know he’s serious about a new album by putting out new single “Why Can’t We,” a track featuring Her. With the song out on December 26, he went to promote it and spoke with RapFix about the collaborations he would like for upcoming album Now We Even. He explained: "There's only two people that I would work with, and it would have to be one of those two, but the second one is probably gonna surprise many of you. The only two that would make sense to me would be Kanye or Drake — even though he doesn't have a label, those are the only two that I would entertain."
Guest appearances leading into his latest solo single have included the Cruel Summer soundtrack and tracks with 2 Chainz and Pusha T. Drake, as well, has confirmed working with Ma$e on new material. For the album, the rapper previously expressed he would like to work not just with Drake but also Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, and 2 Chainz, so we’ll see what’s in store once the album or more singles drop.
