"Love Lockdown" Video Review
"Love Lockdown" is a song by American hip hop artist Kanye West. It The song was written by West less than ten days before it premiered live as the "explosive" finale of the 2008 MTV VMAs on September 7, 2008.
West has cited the track as his "favorite to date", saying "go where your heart takes you".
The simplistic drum beat is a touch of genius, while he is an excellent 'Soul-Beat' producer, this is simply inspired.
The music video for "Love Lockdown" premiered on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, October 7,2008. The video features Kanye in an all white room, also dressed in white singing the verses of the song. During the choruses, African tribe members appear, beating on drums. More tribe members are shown with each chorus, and near the end, two very tall female figures with drawings like the Nazca Lines appear. The video ends with Kayne laying on the couch in the white room.
Speaking of the video, Kanye admits that he "kind of embody Patrick Bateman from 'American Psycho' ". The rapper says, "You know at the end of the movie (that) he didn't really kill anyone. (I just liked) the clean aesthetic and the way he was all about labels. I wanted to express all of that in the video."
