LMFAO Split Up, Taking Indefinite Break
I guess they really are sorry for party rockin’. After “five or six” years together, they have decided to take an indefinite break from making music together so that they can focus on their individual solo projects.
The news came after Redfoo was interviewed by an Australian news outlet. The 37-year-old musician explained that he and his nephew, 26-year-old Sky Blu, have no plans to work on any new music and are wanting to take a more organic approach to their careers from this point forward. He said: “we're kind of like saying, well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time."
He went on to say that, rather than the hiatus being the result of some big blow out, the two just naturally began hanging out with different sets of people but emphasized that they will always be family.
Their 2011 album, Sorry for Party Rocking, spawned the two #1 hits “Sexy and I Know It” and “Party Rock Anthem,” which was named last year’s Song of the Summer. Madonna also included the pair in her Super Bowl halftime show performance this past February.
Redfoo already has projects on the go including co-producing Carly Rae Jepsen's new single "This Kiss." He will also be appearing this weekend in Las Vegas at the Party Rock Open (he’s a tennis enthusiast).
If you’re worried about never hearing a hit like “Party Rock Anthem” again, don’t get too sad – Redfoo vows to continue making music that is “LMFAO-ish.” He added: "I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music."
It will be interesting to see what kind of music they each produce separately!
