Little Boots Reveals She is Working on Sophomore Album
Back when the current trend of electronic-influenced pop took off in 2008, Little Boots, who both sings and plays her instruments, was one of the artists to notice. But, since her debut dropped in 2009, the singer born Victoria Hesketh has laid relatively low, especially compared to similar artists like Lady Gaga. But recently, in an interview with This is Fake DIY, she revealed she has been working on a follow-up.
Discussing the release’s state, she mentioned: “We are very close now, just putting the finishing touches in the studio. I wrote it all over the world.”
But, as Hesketh has become more comfortable with herself as an artist, the darker, electro style of her debut has been replaced with one more upbeat: less ‘80s synthpop, she revealed, and more reflective of the present dance music trend. Specifically, spending time DJing influenced her decision to adopt a more upbeat sound.
Talking about her change, in both sound and seeing herself as an artist, she said: “I feel a lot more at peace about where I’m at creatively as an artist now than a year or so ago. I think everyone is always nervous releasing anything they’ve created into the world, but I’ve realized what I want to do and how I can achieve it, rather than trying to please other people.”
Tour dates, while not finalized, may be in the cards. Hesketh mentioned she has plans to stop in the U.K. and U.S. and may even perform in Japan and Australia.
