The Album Is Thirteen Of Richie's Hits Performed As Duets With Some Of Country Music's Biggest Stars Lionel Richie To Release New Album 'Tuskegee'

Lionel Richie is about to release a new album going back to his roots in Alabama. The forthcoming album Tuskegee, due out on 27th March, will revisit 13 of Richie's biggest hits - as duets - with some of country music's biggest stars. The album will highlight new versions of some of Richie's biggest hits, songs including the all-time classic "Stuck On You" - but this time as a duet with Darius Rucker.

Tuskegee is a small city in Macon County, Alabama. It is a notable site for African American culture and history, but more importantly for Lionel Richie it is his hometown, where he was born and raised. He even graduated from the Tuskegee University.

This small town is very dear to Richie. On his website, he states, "This place called Tuskegee is where it all began - the place where I felt that everything was available and possible. It's where I learned about life and love and the power of music, and the place I built a musical foundation that knows no genres or boundaries."

The idea for making a country album occurred backstage at the last CMA Awards where Lionel Richie found out that just about every country act knew the words to most of his songs. He developed the idea further to create a "duets album" where everyone could then put down their own interpretation into his songs.
