Linkin Park Releases Single “Lies Greed Misery”
Linkin Park are set to release a follow-up to A Thousand Suns. Called Living Things, their upcoming album is slated for U.S. release over the next month. To give fans a taste of their new sound, the band released Living Things’ first single in February, a track called “Burn It Down.” Essentially a departure in sound from their last two albums, “Burn It Down” indicates the band’s doing something different with this release. But, before the actual album drops, a second single, a track called “Lies Greed Misery,” came out this week.
“Burn It Down” has already been successful on the U.S. and U.K. rock charts. Do you think “Lies Greed Misery” could do the same? If you have yet to hear Linkin Park’s new track, listen to it here through their lyric video:
In recent interviews, the band has discussed the Living Things sound. While a considerable departure from A Thousand Suns, Living isn’t a full reversion. Rather, in interviews, Mike Shinoba has called it a return to the tools used to create their previous albums, giving fans a “familiar sound” but not an actual return. He had said: "What we've actually said is that the record gets back to our roots and it's captured a feeling that we haven't gone after in many years. I think that's gotten misconstrued as a return to heavy guitars. There are guitars on the record of course, though."
