Lineup for Ultra Music Festival 2013 Announced
As EDM sees its profile grow in the U.S., Ultra Music Festival, which has been annual in Miami since the late 1990s, has turned into one of the premiere events to see trance, house, techno, and dubstep DJs, as well as live electronic music. For 2013, the festival expanded to two weekends, and as of this weekend, the first phase of its lineup was announced.
Many of the same headliners are back this year, including Tiesto, Avicii, David Guetta, Carl Cox, and Swedish House Mafia, who are planning their Ultra performance as the final show for their One Last Tour. Also added this year is Deadmau5, who, in a rant about Ultra 2012, compared the event to a contest between DJs.
The event, as well, will be held again in Bayfront Park on March 15 to the 17th and the 22nd to the 24th. The festival, for those involved in the electronic music industry, bookends the Winter Music Conference, after being separated for the last two years.
The 2013 event, additionally, celebrates the festival’s 15-year history, and more acts for phase two will be announced. Currently, all acts scheduled include:
Above & Beyond
Armin van Burren
Swedish House Mafia
The Bloody Beetroots
DJ Fresh (Live)
Matt & Kim
Additionally, New Order, who played at Ultra 2012, appeared to have scheduled Ultra’s second weekend as a stop on their 2013 tour.
