Lindsay Lohan is Suing Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Afrojack Over Lyric

It’s common practice for artists to refer to other celebrities in lyrics and, often, the words they utter are less than flattering (just ask anyone mentioned in an Eminem single!).  Usually, a war of words erupts with the involved parties hurling insults at each other on Twitter until no one cares anymore. Sometimes people just ignore it. Then there are the times when the whole thing ends up in court. 

Rapper Pitbull and his co-writers, Ne-Yo and Afrojack, are being sued by actress, Lindsay Lohan, over a line in the hit single “Give Me Everything” where he says: “Hustlers move aside, so I’m tiptoein’, to keep flowin’ / I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”

Her lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, filed the suit claiming that “the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.”

The timing is interesting since some might consider this an attempt to make some money.  The actress, who appeared in the music video for N.E.R.D.’s cocaine-inspired single, “Everyone Nose”, has been struggling to make ends meet and save her career.  After several failed attempts at rehab and multiple arrests, Lohan has been ordered to seek professional counseling but told a judge that she was unable to afford private sessions. It doesn’t look like she will be able to afford them any time soon either since it’s being widely reported that no one wants to hire her.

While it is certainly understandable for someone to be upset about their name being used in a negative way, celebs like Kim Kardashian, who became famous after her sex tape leaked, have proven that there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
