Lil Wayne Plans to Censor Himself More on ‘Tha Carter V’
Lil Wayne’s Carter series stretches back nearly a decade now, and its last installment was in 2011. After I am Not a Human Being II being his last full-length release, the Young Money rapper has plans to put out a new Carter album.
Promoting it in an interview with MTV News, Lil Wayne revealed that, after the controversy surrounding his Emmett Till lyric in “Karate Chop,” he’s planning to censor himself more. Speaking about his new approach to lyrics, he said: "I'm more careful about what I'm doing and trying to be more careful what I'm saying."
Do you think this could affect his style?
Beyond this, Lil Wayne revealed he plans to take more responsibility overall; previously, his management dealt with his error. He went onto explain: "I knew that I had people above me or around me that was gonna make sure whatever I said or shouldn't have said or whatever I did or shouldn't have did. Well now, I'm those people, and I'm telling me what I should do and what I shouldn't say."
Tha Carter V is expected to drop at some point in 2014.
I am Not a Human Being II came out in 2013, getting as high as No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as pulling high ranks on the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap Albums charts. Before that, the last part of Tha Carter series, IV, dropped in 2011 and earned him a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
