Libertines Negotiating Glastonbury Festival Slot
According to the British newspaper The Sun, the Libertines are to play the Other Stage at this years Glastonbury. However guitarist and co vocalist Carl Barat has not confirmed that that is the case.
He said, "It's been mentioned, but I've not had an actual dialogue yet with the other band members."
He did add that he would be up for playing gigs as part of The Libertines after performing at the Reading and Leeds Festivals last August. The Leeds performance had to be stopped after three songs due to safety concerns for the crowd. Once the crowd were calmed, the band returned to the stage to complete their 18 song set.
Speaking about touring as part of The Libertines this summer, Barat said, "It'd be nice to do a few, if we get the old machine up again," he said. "There's all sorts of things to think about, with all that's going on."
Pete Docherty, the band’s other singer is going on a solo tour in May which sees the singer playing 19 gigs throughout the UK in May, June, July, August, and September. Carl Barat is due to kick off a 9 gig tour beginning on February 20th.
Should the band play the festival they look like to be joining U2, Coldplay, and Beyonce at this year’s event which is held between June 24th – 26th. The Festival is the largest outdoor music festival in the world, and many music legends have graced the stage including Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, and Neil Diamond.
So far only Coldplay have been confirmed to play the festival.
