Leonard Cohen Reveals Album Details

Iconic singer's first album in eight years will be released January 31 on Columbia Leonard Cohen Reveals Album Details

Leonard Cohen's new album Old Ideas will be released on January 31 through Columbia Records.

Cohen's twelfth studio album will be the singer's first since 2004's Dear Heather (which originally was supposed to be titled Old Ideas but changed to avoid the confusion that the album was a compilation or Best Of).

According to the album's press release, its "ten [previously unreleased] songs poetically address some of the most profound quandaries of human existence - the relationship to a transcendent being, love, sexuality, loss and death." Exactly what you would expect from the "ladies' man."

The album is produced by Ed Sanders. Some of the songs featured on the album have already been showcased during his 2008 - 2010 tours, including "The Darkness," "Lullaby," "Feels So Good," and "Born in Chains."

Earlier this year, Cohen was awarded Spain's Prince of Asturias Award for Literature. Previous winners include playwright Arthur Miller and naturalist Sir David Attenborough.

Cohen himself designed the album's cover. Check out the tracklist below:

02 Amen

03 Show Me the Place
