An album titled “Occupy This Album” has been planned by some of the legends of the music industry in support of the Occupy movement.

In an official press release, the producers of the project stated that artists such as David Crosby, Jackson Brown, Devo, Third Eye Blind, Ya Lo Tengo, Lloyd Cole and The Guthrie Family along with moviemaker Michael Moore have confirmed their participation for the multi-star music compilation.

According to the producers, the album will become the official sound of the Occupy Wall Street movement and it will provide the protesters "an anthem and rallying cry" in their "uprising."

The press release further stated that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Graham Nash, who has songs such as "Chicago" and "Love is The Reason" to his credit, is also on board.

Nash said, "The Occupation movement is really the voice of the people, it's an idea that's been a long time coming. I fully support their non-violent protests against a system that is carefully crafted in favor of the rich one percent."

All the revenue generated by the benefit album will be donated to the Occupy movement in general, with half of it going to the Occupy Wall Street General Fund. Album producer Jason Samel said that the other half will be donated in equal proportions to the rest of the major occupations around the US.

The "Occupy This Album" is scheduled for release sometimes before the end of the winter.

I have often thought this would happen and now it will , what a great way to support the occupy movement. Music is a very powerful tool to move people to action in support of a call to speak out in one loud voice. Music is the free speech they will never silence.
