LeAnn Rimes Sues Women for Taping Phone Call
Country star, LeAnn Rimes checked into a rehab facility this week to help manage some emotional issues. The 30-day inpatient treatment is intended to help her cope with anxiety and stress. Husband, Eddie Cibrian, says he is “proud” of her for taking time to work on herself and believes that she is a “remarkable and courageous woman.”
After the announcement was made, many media sites began speculating about the reasons why she was suddenly feeling so upset. She definitely has taken her share of public criticism for marrying the man that she had an affair with (Cibrian was also married to another woman at the time) and some have pointed to one public dissenter as the cause of her demise. It seems that there is truth to this since it has now been announced that LeAnn is suing two women for invading her privacy.
In a $25,000 suit against a woman named Kimberly Smiley and her daughter, Lexi, Rimes alleges that one of their phone conversations was illegally recorded and posted online. Smiley has been known to be supportive of Cibrian’s first wife, Brandi Glanville.
During the phone call, Rimes confronts the woman that had been taunting her on Twitter. After this conversation went viral, the singer claims that not only was she cyber-bullied but she also has had significant “emotional distress” as a result of having this phone call made public.
Smiley, a teacher from California, said that she believes this is all a publicity stunt.
