Lance Bass Discusses Coming Out to Britney Spears
Coming out of the closet has got to be one of the toughest things a person can do. It takes a lot of courage to share something that is so personal and private with someone for the first time but Lance Bass recently recounted a story that showed that the power of friendship sometimes comes first.
Years before he went public, Bass told his pal, Britney Spears, that he figured out that he wasn’t straight. He explained: "The way I came out to Britney was, it was her first marriage, when she got married in Vegas, that little 24-hour one. So I was up there for that, and she was kind of upset because she knew what was gonna happen the next day, and all the press, and the only thing I could think of to kind of calm her down and make her stop crying was, 'I'm gay.' She stopped crying and it was great."
Can you imagine!? That’s real dedication as a friend and, really, Spears returned that favor by never divulging his secret. The world remained clueless about the former N*Sync boy bander’s sexual orientation until he decided to make a public announcement.
