Lana Del Rey Releases A Sombre Music Video For 'Born To Die'

The Sultry Singer Has Extended The Budget On This Impressive Video Inside A Magnificent Cathedral Adorned With Sculptures And Artwork Lana Del Rey Releases A Sombre Music Video For 'Born To Die'

The music video for Born To Die begins with Lana Del Rey in the arms of the man in her life, both standing in front of the US flag as the sound of the music begins. The next shot pans around a cathedral showcasing all the incredible artwork and sculptures adorning the walls and ceiling. The camera then moves toward the altar where Lana is seated. Beside her, on either side, are two tigers laying down - very calmly - but looking in the direction of the camera.

The next scene shows Lana's man standing in front of his car (a Ford Mustang) parked in an isolated area at night when Lana comes running out toward him. They embrace, and some very passionate scenes follow, on and in the car. The next few scenes alternate between the cathedral and the Mustang. While driving along the highway, their passion for each other takes over, they take their attention off the road and then the inevitable happens. As the title of the song says, we were, "born to die." The song is very sombre. The music has a sad tone about it, and throughout the clip Lana never smiles.

Looking at all the trimmings for this music video, it is obvious that the purse strings were not a problem. In talking about the clip for "Born To Die" with The Sun in the UK recently, Lana said, "Tigers don't come cheap. It's a controversial video. You'll have to wait to see it but I got a generous budget."

Lana is scheduled to release her debut album Born To Die at the end of January 2012. She is also scheduled to make her US television appearance on Saturday Night Live on January 14, alongside host Daniel Radcliffe  (aka Harry Potter).
