Lana Del Rey Calls New Album “Dark”
Lana Del Rey and “dark” in the same sentence? Although most of the singer’s debut and extended play albums are certainly somber and morose, Del Rey doesn’t seem like someone who’d truly go in a dark and twisted direction. But based on the title of her sophomore album and recent Twitter conversation with fans, that could be the case.
The singer went onto talk about the character of the album, telling fans that the release is complete. She then explained: "The record is finished and it's beautiful. And don't worry you will love ultra it's so wrong and exquisite. It is absolutely gorgeous - darker then the first - so dark it's almost unlistenable and wrong. But I love it. X".
While she hasn’t explicitly said it, there’s a good chance that the album title hints at A Clockwork Orange, but we’ll have to see how that plays out.
Del Rey’s debut Born to Die went to No. 1 in 11 countries. The singer, however, until recently, didn’t have a single that cracked the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100; last year, she scored that distinction with a remix from Cedric Gervais of “Summertime Sadness.”
After speculation, the singer born Elizabeth Grant officially revealed the upcoming release at a press conference in December. The event was held the same time as the Hollywood premiere for her short film Tropico.
