Lady Gaga Unveils Third ‘ARTPOP’ Single: “G.U.Y.”
ARTPOP may be considered Lady Gaga’s least commercially successful album so far, but that doesn’t mean it has done poorly on the charts. Second single “Do What U Want,” featuring R. Kelly and then later re-recorded with Christina Aguilera after a memorable Voice performance, scored the pop star another hit, so months later, its follow-up single was revealed.
In a tweet from NBC, the single was announced, with its official music video set to debut this weekend on Dateline. A bit of an odd choice, but that’s not de rigueur for Gaga. The network wrote: "Yes, you heard right: @ladygaga is premiering the music video for 'G.U.Y.' Saturday at 8/7c on @NBC, right before our 'Saturday Night Mystery'!"
For those of you unfamiliar with the track, “G.U.Y.” is Gaga’s collaboration with house music producer Zedd. He had reportedly contributed several tracks to ARTPOP and the two even toured together last year.
As well, rumors of a music video involving the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills started circulating this year. The pop star previously expressed her fondness for all of the Real Housewives shows, but even with sources talking about the video shoot, no one knew which track it was for.
While her Born This Way Ball ended suddenly because of a hip injury last year, Gaga has more dates planned later in 2014 in support of ARTPOP. We’ll have to see if she brings the vomiting as stage performance shtick like she did at SXSW on tour.
