Lady Gaga’s Judas Video Premieres

Even if you are not a fan of Lady Gagas music, there can be no denying that her videos are always easy on the eye. It is not just the womans beauty that is eye catching, but the sets, the imagery, and the small stories that unfold within a few minutes of each one that makes her videos a small entertainment spectacle in their own right.

As for the Judas video itself it does have the elements that have made Lady Gaga a video star. There are the trademark cutaways. Judas features her being engulfed by water, bathed by two guys, and wearing a white dress. There are the choreographed dance routines, and in Judas we have lipstick guns and gay guys.

Biblical references are few and far between, and there is nothing that is particularly controversial within the video from a neutral perspective. Id imagine that only extreme followers of the Christian faith will take offence to the video, which for many, references to Mary Magdalene, and indeed any other aspect of the bible will not really click. As she said this it is no way shape or form a biblical lesson.

No doubt her religious detractors will come up with moral arguments and the usual rhetoric which goes with a pop star making reference to famous figures from the bible. The bottom line however, is the song Judas will be remembered if it is any good, and whether it is remembered or not, the religious arguments against this video will be soon forgotten.
