Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Making Jazz Album
The last time Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett collaborated, it was on the legend’s Duets II album. Their rendition of “The Lady is a Tramp” was pretty good and, apparently, they enjoyed working together so much that they are ready to do it again.
The pair are planning to release a “big swinging” jazz album and, undoubtedly, it will be quite a collection. Despite her success and busy schedule, you might be surprised to learn that the effort was Gaga’s idea. Bennett recently explained that the pop star called him from New Zealand and told him that she wanted to work on a jazz album with him. He added: “a lot of people don't know it, but she's a phenomenal jazz singer."
For their theme, they are planning to cover hits by a “very underrated” composer who is very famous but “not as famous as Gershwin or Porter.”
That’s already intriguing! Coule they be considering Eubie Blake? Any ideas for who the composer might be?
Either way, it should be a really interesting project and I personally cannot wait to hear how it turns out. In the meantime, we will just have to be content with Bennett’s Viva Duets album which will be released on October 23, 2012 and Gaga’s upcoming ARTPOP album which is scheduled to drop sometime in 2013.
