Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera’s Performance on ‘The Voice’ to be Officially Released
Less than two weeks ago, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera got attention on The Voice’s finale for a performance of “Do What You Want.” The track, originally a collaboration between Gaga and R. Kelly from recent album ARTPOP, renewed interest in both singers so much that the Mother Monster decided to put out a studio version.
Now with Aguilera filling in for R. Kelly, the studio version arrives on January 1, 2014.
Although a feud was rumored when Gaga arrived on the scene in the late ‘00s, she told Carson Daly in an interview after the performance that she couldn’t refuse to perform on The Voice.
Aguilera told Daly that the two hadn’t even met prior to putting together this song: "When I heard she wanted to collaborate, I said of course! She's such an innovative artist and a risk taker. And as a fellow female, I have so much respect for that. And I just have to say guys, she's the most down-to-earth real person I've met. So I love you girl, and you deserve everything you've earned."
While Aguilera’s contestant didn’t win that night, her performance has been memorable in the weeks since. If you didn’t catch The Voice finale, watch their duet here:
