Kurupt Expresses His Grief over Natina Reed's Death

'Tha Dogg Pound' MC has described Reed's untimely death as a tremendous loss to their family. Kurupt Expresses His Grief over Natina Reed's Death

Rapper Kurupt has spoken fondly about his former fiancé and Blaque femcee Natina Reed, who got killed in a road accident last week.

The two rap stars were engaged decade or so ago but their marriage never materialised and they broke up soon after. During their relationship, she also gave birth to their son named Trent Brown, who is now ten years old.

Despite their breakup, they were reportedly on good terms and Kurupt says that Reed's untimely death is a major loss for him and their son. In a statement forwarded to MTV News, "Tha Dogg Pound" member expressed his grief and thanked the fans for their messages of support.

He stated: "Myself and Tren, Natina's son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time. This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did."

Reed shot to fame in the late 90s as part of the R&B trio "Blaque," although her role in the group was more of a rapper than singer. She was a protégée of the late singer Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who gave Blaque their big break and signed the group to her label after being impressed by Reed's talents.

The "Bring It All to Me" hitmaker was crossing a street while talking on phone in Lawrenceville, Georgia last Friday when she was run over by a speeding vehicle. Her injuries from the accident proved to be fatal and she died at Gwinnett Medical Center just two days before what would have been her 33rd birthday. The driver of the vehicle is not expected to face any charges, as it is believed that Reed was the one who was at fault.

Soon after the confirmation of her death, tributes started to pour in. Her "Blaque" bandmate Brandi Williams tweeted: "Last night the world was changed forever, life will never be the same....she was my sister."

The third member of the group Shamari Fears wrote: "My heart and my soul is in so much pain. My sister, my best friend, I will always love you," before adding: "My world as I know it has forever changed. Until we meet again, may you find comfort in the arms of an angel. I love you Natina."
