Kreayshawn Releases 'Gucci Gucci'
Kreayshawn is a 21-year-old rapper who has suddenly tasted the success pie with her first single "Gucci Gucci". The infectious rap video received around 3 million hits on YouTube resulting in the signing of a million dollar contract with Columbia Records.
In the track, Kreayshawn blasts the brand names of fashion and their followers. The luxury titles "copping it" include Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Prada. But in an interview Kreayshawn said that the song is not about attacking the labels, it's about ridiculing the women who wear items from one specific fashion brand thinking that they look just right. She said, "Honestly if a girl's wearing, like, a Gucci shirt with a Gucci belt and a purse and a visor, that's not cute at all."
More to the point, she is perfectly fine with the high quality fashion, she just does not like the sight of women who are tied to one brand. "You can wear it but don't let it define you." The singer makes a point of saying that she soon will buy a Chanel bag and wear her own taste in clothes, even if the items are purchased from thrift stores.
In the video she wears oversized jewellery and a Minnie Mouse bow in her hair matched in a style that is truly unique to her alone.
It starts with a shot at expensive bands, but the real message Kreayshawn puts out there is that expensive jewellery and fancy clothes do not make a person.
You can purchase the hit single of Kreayshawn, "Gucci Gucci", at iTunes or Amazon.
