Kirsty's "Set Your Body Free," a Taio Cruz-Penned Dance-Pop Track, Out on August 22

Pop singer Kirsty is releasing single “Set Your Body Free,” a track penned by Taio Cruz, through iTunes on August 22. Already available in parts of Europe, “Set Your Body Free” has ascended up to No. 1 on the DMC World chart and to No. 2 on Music Week’s Upfront Club chart. Danceable in any form, the original cut of “Set Your Body Free” will be accompanied by remixes from Loverush UK!, Full Intention, Jason Van Wyk, and Nova on the single. Known better as Kirsty Bertarelli, the singer, a former Miss U.K., is not entirely new to the music world. A decade ago, she penned All Saints’ hit “Black Coffee” which reached number 1 in the UK. About her songwriting, she has said: "I've always expressed myself better in writing than orally. I began to write poems about people I had just met, to which I would then offer them."

Getting back into music a few years ago after motherhood, she released an album, titled Elusive, in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Produced by Andy Wright (Simply Red, Eurythmics), Elusive placed in the Top 20 on multiple European charts and features her own interpretation of “Black Coffee.” At the time, she did a small tour in support of her dance- and rock-influenced album, opening for Simply Red and Mick Hucknall, and told the Daily Mail: “Being on stage and being able to share my music and connect with the audience really is a dream come true.”

“Set Your Body Free” is a dance floor-friendly pop track with a house beat and uplifting vocals. Standing out from standard dance-diva fare, “Set Your Body Free” puts the instrumentation on par with Kirsty’s vocals – neither behind nor surrounding her voice.
