"King Rat" Video Review

"King Rat" is a song by indie rock band Modest Mouse and appears as the title track to their fifth promotional release, following 2005's "The World at Large". The single was later released on the band's 2009 EP "No One's First and You're Next".

In an April interview, MM frontman Isaac Brock explained the tune will eventually be included on an upcoming EP featuring songs that did not make it onto the new album. Brock also stated that actor Heath Ledger has signed up to create a video for the tune with Monty Python animator Terry Gilliam.

Heath Ledger was in the midst of directing and overseeing it when he died in Jan. 2008. The clip was finished by a production company called the Masses (who counted Ledger as a member).

The clip was made to protest illegal whale killing off the coast of Australia, and depicts whales poaching humans to make whale food.
