Kid Rock has just celebrated his 40th birthday with the run-up to the event being one to remember - performing to a huge crowd of fans. The concert in his native hometown Detroit, Michigan, was in front of 45,000 fans on last Saturday, 15th January. Tickets for the show at Detroit's Ford Field stadium sold out in less than 20 minutes.

Kicking off in style, Kid Rock took to the stage for his birthday celebration with a rendition of "Birthday" by The Beatles - a most appropriate start to his celebration! Fellow musician, Uncle Kracker, then joined him on stage with "Good to Be Me". This new song is a feel-good anthem about life, and such a good way to enjoy a birthday with lyrics: "Bought some cheap shades at the Amoco Station / They make me feel like I'm on Vacation / On my own island, motor city paradise".

Talk show kings Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno both sent Kid Rock birthday wishes, taped videos which were shown on huge screens at the Detroit stadium.

Guests also present at the event included Sheryl Crow, Peter Wolf, Martina McBride, Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons and Anita Baker.

In 2007, Kid Rock produced his first worldwide smash hit "All Summer Long" which reached the No.1 slot on the charts in eight countries in Europe and Australia. The album from which the song is taken ("Rock N Roll Jesus") went on to sell over 5 million albums worldwide.

To look after his fans, Kid Rock has kept the price of tickets to his show as low as possible, so that everyone, regardless of background, can get an opportunity to see him live. However he has become furious at scalpers who bought tickets only to sell them at hugely inflated prices. On his website, an angry Kid Rock wrote, "IF I COULD CONFRONT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM (ticket scalpers) FACE TO FACE I WOULD AND IT WOULD NOT WORK OUT TOO WELL FOR THEM I GUARANTEE ALL OF YOU. I hate them, I feel like someone is beating up a close friend or family member while I'm chained to a chair".
